Journal Revue Baltique

"Revue Baltique" is a scientific journal devoted for social and human sciences in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, familiarising with the culture of the Baltic nations, promoting the regional Baltic and Baltic/Nordic cooperation in the perspective of the European integration. Attention is focused on the development of parliamentary systems and democracy in the Baltic States. There are separate issues that reflect and analyse processes in specific social life areas as well as the demographic developments in the Baltic States.

The journal "Revue Baltique" was founded in 1940 by the Bureau for Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian cooperation. The objective was to overcome the isolation of the three countries, to acquaint the foreign reader with political, cultural, and economic developments in these countries, and also to facilitate their mutual understanding.

After Soviet annexation, the edition of the journal was been suspended, copies were destroyed, and only a few were saved. At present, a journal of this type is non-the-less necessity. Therefore, in 1994 the Scientific Societies of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia renewed and continue with the publishing of the journal. In pre-World War II issues articles were published in English, German and in French. This tradition has been preserved.
